Where you can hire a bike to go on a two wheel adventure in the Red Centre

Whether you’re an avid mountain biker or a casual weekend cyclist, there’s bicycling tracks & paths for everyone in the Red Centre. The common idea of getting about in the beautiful expanse of desert is in a four-wheel-drive or on the back of a camel - don’t get us wrong, both of those options are a lot of fun. But make sure you don’t miss the opportunity to check out some of the truly awesome mountain biking and cycling trails while you’re here for an experience you will never forget.

With over 200km of mountain biking and cycling trails around Central Australia and some of the most expansive and beautiful scenery anywhere in the world, it can be both intimidating and easy to get lost. So your best bet is to stick with the two most popular areas for cycling, Uluru & Alice Springs. Both of these places have several excellent bike hire & cycle guides and won’t disappoint in their incredible scenery.

Uluru

If you’re around Uluru, you know there’s magic in the air. But there’s something truly special about a crisp morning bicycle ride, seeing the big rock in a way only possible peddling two wheels.

Outback Cycling

Outback Cycling Uluru offers bike hire and guidance for cycling in the area, with affordable prices to suit anyone’s budget. The standard rental price is $60 for 3 hours + helmet usage, but kids & toddlers can ride for $45 and $30 respectively. The company also offers prices with transfer to & from your hotel to make it a truly all in one adventure.

It’s worth noting that when you’re hiring a bike from Outback Cycling, you’re going to be riding around the base track of Uluru, which is roughly 15km long. Depending on how fit (or keen) you are, this can take anywhere up to 3 hours to complete - but we would definitely recommend taking it slow so you can experience the beauty. So put on some sunscreen and take your time!

Outback Cycling Uluru are open 7 days a week from 07am to 11am and can be found at the Uluru Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre, within the National Park.
