Description

Red Hot Arts Central Australia (RHACA) is a non-profit arts organisation that provides accessible spaces, workshops, support and events to facilitate, promote and build the capacity of arts and local artists.

Red Hot Arts Central Australia, as it is today, was founded in 2009, when the two separate entities of Red Hot Arts Marketing and Alice Desert Festival merged.

Red Hot Arts Marketing commenced as a project initiative of Arts NT in 1999, and was designed to support arts, artists and arts organisations with marketing and industry development activities in Alice Springs.

Alice Springs Festival was founded by the local community in 2001 to create a nationally marketed umbrella brand for events in Alice Springs in the events shoulder season. Alice Springs Festival was Central Australia’s first major annual arts and cultural festival, and it incubated several successful events, including Desert Song Festival.

In 2004, the festival was rebranded to become the Alice Springs Festival of the Desert, which was shortened in 2005 to Alice Desert Festival.
