Barkly Regional Art is excited to announce the dates and theme for the 2023 Desert Harmony Festival, which will take place from Friday, 28 July until Sunday, 30 July in Tennant Creek. The festival, which has become a beloved event in the Northern Territory’s cultural calendar, is a celebration of the region’s diverse communities and rich artistic traditions.

The theme for the 2023 festival is Kunjuku, Anyinginyi Jangarlki Kapi Kaminya Palpuru (Respect, Identity and Healing). This theme reflects the festival’s commitment to promoting understanding, respect and reconciliation between different cultural groups, and to highlighting the role of art and culture in fostering healing and wellbeing.

The festival will feature a diverse program of events, including music, dance, visual arts, and film. There will be performances and workshops by local and national artists, as well as opportunities for visitors to learn about the
history and culture of the region’s Traditional Owners.
