Parrtjima | Talks | Two Way Science with Corey Tutt

Details

Hear from Corey Tutt as a part of the talks program at Parrtjima 2023.

A proud Kamilaroi man, Corey Tutt won the NSW Young Australian of the Year Award in 2020 for his work in educating and empowering Aboriginal communities with science resources and mentorships. DeadlyScience, which Corey founded, provides services to more than 180 remote and regional schools across Australia, with a particular focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. When Corey found out there were remote schools in Australia with hardly any resources for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) he set out to make a change. To date, DeadlyScience has provided more than 25,000 culturally appropriate books focusing on STEM, as well as telescopes, microscopes, Lego and other equipment to spark student interest. Schools involved with DeadlyScience have shown an attendance boost in STEM classes of 25 per cent.

Entry to talks will be on a first-come, first-served basis so make sure you arrive early.
