A Western Arrernte man, Charlie Maher Jnr is one of the four members of the inaugural Indigenous Marathon Project team in 2010. He became the first Indigenous Australian runner to complete the New York marathon, finishing in 3 hours and 32 minutes. Following his success, Charlie continued running and completed the world-famous Boston marathon, running a 10-minute personal best time of 3 hours and 22 minutes. In 2015 he completed his fourth marathon in Tokyo and become the third Indigenous marathon runner to run a sub three-hour marathon, in 2 hours 56 minutes. Charlie created history again in 2022 when he became the first Indigenous Australian to finish all six major marathons - New York, Boston, Tokyo, Berlin, Chicago and London. Charlie, who says “running has changed his life for the better”, hopes to inspire others around the nation, through his story and journey

Entry to talks will be on a first-come, first-served basis so make sure you arrive early.
