Hailing from the Aboriginal community of Ltyentye Apurte, Santa Teresa, 80km south-east of Alice Springs, the Eastern Reggae Band has been entertaining audiences and inspiring communities across Central Australia since 1999.
The talented band members sing in Eastern Arrernte and English, and released their debut album, Grog’s No Good, in 2015. Recorded on a hill overlooking the Santa Teresa community, it was a grass-roots training opportunity for Central Australian Aboriginal Media Association’s (CAAMA) Music Industry Rangers.
The first single from the album, Holy Water, describes the legendary holy spring of Santa Teresa, known for its healing qualities. Their songs reflect their lives, featuring lyrics revolving around country, landscapes, dreamtime stories, family life, social problems and cultural history.
Venue: Gathering Ground, Parrtjima Hub, Desert Park
Entry to music performances will be on a first-come, first-served basis so make sure you arrive early.
