Desert Song Festival

Details

The 2023 Desert Song Festival (DSF) will regather to Alice Springs, the Desert Song global family of artists who have contributed so much to building this unique regional festival.

From across Australia, and from India, Africa, the Pacific and Europe, artists, musicians and choirs will return for an intercultural musical extravaganza! Collaborations involving the NIMA award-winning Central Australian Aboriginal Women’s Choir and the Shubhendra and Saskia Rao Duet from Delhi, India, will be the core of the artistic vision for this Festival. The values of cultural diversity, cooperative and inclusive creativity, artistic innovation and years of solid artistic practice, will again celebrate the multicultural character of Alice Springs - and of Australia.

Arising out of the robust crucible of living languages and vibrant cultures in the NT, the DSF presents a program that fosters pride, resilience and cohesion within the community. Its setting is Arrernte country - Mparntwe - Alice Springs. The majestic ranges and gorges of Central Australia are its backdrop. Its stages are iconic heritage venues within the built environment of Alice Springs.

DSF celebrates the best of ourselves, facilitates connection with the traditional custodians
of Central Australia, their land, lore, culture and languages and will again present visitors with compelling reasons to visit the iconic Red Centre.
