28th Alice Springs Beanie Festival

This year's theme is Listen to the Land. A four day festival encompassing exhibitions, textile workshops,Indigenous workshops, live music, and lots of good tucker.

Beanie Central held in Witchettys will house over 6800 handmade beanies from over 500 beanie makers from around the world, a gold coin entry come and enjoy the thrill of the chase for your favourite piece of headgear...can you leave with only one! In the Araluen Galleries the International Beanie Competition and Exhibition will highlight over 300 of the worlds most exquisite beanie creations from as far away as Japan, Germany, the UK and NZ as well as beanies created at workshops held at the remote Indigenous communities of Central Australia in the months leading up to the Festival.

Opening night, Friday June 21 from 5.30-8.30pm (free event)

The Araluen carpark will be alive and under the giant beanie. Live music (The Carp Factory, Paul AhChee and the Kisses) will welcome the announcement of the competition winner, there will be food stalls and the bar will be open..

Central Craft will be holding textile workshops over the weekend to get your creative mojo on. The exhibition will run for 3 weeks. Full details for the weekend will be available on the website.
