Frequently Asked Questions

CATE B2B is a dynamic, fast paced tourism exchange designed to connect operators from across Central Australia with key industry stakeholders, from distribution partners and Visitor Information Centre staff to major NT tourism decision makers.

At CATE, exhibitors present their offering in a series of concise, one on one speed date style sessions. Each operator receives 8 minutes of focused time with representatives from Visitor Information Centres, distribution partners, Tourism Australia, ATEC and other frontline staff. It is the ideal environment to share what is new, provide updates, and position your business for the year ahead.
CATE B2C is a consumer facing event that gives tourism operators the chance to showcase products and experiences to locals and visitors in region.

Held the evening before the Tourism Exchange, operators are encouraged to bring their stands to life and, where possible, showcase experiences in an immersive way. We also encourage operators to offer an event special for locals, whether that is a discount, bonus inclusion, or value add.
CATE 2026 takes tourism networking and industry engagement to the next level. This year, Tourism Central Australia is partnering with the Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC) to bring 25+ buyers into the region, creating a standout opportunity to connect, strengthen trade relationships, and expand your market reach.

The refreshed format features a dynamic program of networking events, product showcases, and immersive experiences designed to highlight Central Australia’s unique tourism offering.
CATE is ideal for tourism operators and experience providers across Central Australia who want to:

• Grow trade and distribution connections
• Strengthen relationships with Visitor Information Centre teams and frontline sellers
• Share new product updates, packages, and seasonal offers
• Increase bookings and awareness through industry channels
You will connect with a mix of industry stakeholders, including:

• Visitor Information Centre staff
• Distribution partners
• Frontline staff
• National and state tourism organisations such as Tourism Australia, Tourism and Events NT
• ATEC and hosted buyers (CATE 2026)
The Central Australian Tourism Exchange runs as structured one-on-one appointments. You will rotate through meetings, with 8 minutes per session, giving you focused time to pitch, answer questions, and share key collateral.
We recommend bringing:

• A clear elevator pitch (30 to 60 seconds)
• Some imagery on a digital device to showcase your experience/products
• Updated rates, trade ready inclusions, and booking information
• Product updates and what is new for the year ahead
• We encourage you to dress up your table for the Central Australian Tourism Exchange
• Pull-up banner and/or small amount of printed material
The Travel Expo is a consumer facing event, so we encourage operators to think beyond brochures and create an engaging, interactive experience that brings their product to life.

Where possible, consider:

• Interactive or immersive elements that showcase your experience
• Visuals such as imagery, video, or props that tell your story
• Demonstrations, tastings, or hands on activities where appropriate
• Staff who are confident storytellers and happy to engage with the public

We also encourage operators to promote a special Expo offer for locals attending the event. This could be a discounted experience, bonus inclusion, or value add that gives people a reason to book on the night or shortly after.

Recommended items to bring include:
• Clear pricing and booking information
• QR codes linking to your website or booking platform
• Digital or minimal printed collateral
• Signage that clearly communicates your experience and any Expo only offer

This is your chance to inspire locals and visitors and turn interest into bookings.
Yes. The Travel Expo is consumer facing and designed for locals and visitors. The Tourism Exchange is trade focused and designed for industry stakeholders and buyers. Many operators choose to participate in both for maximum exposure.
