Then, take things up a notch and explore Kata Tjuta on foot by taking a hike at the Valley of the Winds. Desert Gardens Hotel

Magnificent ghost gums and flowering native shrubs are the setting for this hotel. Desert Gardens Hotel is centrally located to all resort and touring facilities and offers a range of accommodation, from shaded poolside rooms to deluxe rooms overlooking the desert.

You can relax in the comfort of your own private balcony or courtyard, or unwind in the hotel's pool, sipping cocktails from the Bunya bar.

It's only a short stroll to the Resorts' numerous lookouts, where you can view what is arguably Australia's best sunset, with the spectacular play of colours across the face of Uluru and the surrounding desert.

Once the sun has set, dine at Arnguli Grill and savour an a la carte flame grilled menu.
Visit the Resort Visitor Information Centre to look a wide range of guided tours (fees apply) and organise your journey into the homeland of Anangu (the local Aboriginal people). You can embark on a base walk of Uluru (Ayers Rock). Hike through the Valley of the Winds at Kata Tjuta (the Olgas), take a ride on a Harley Davidson, or take a birds-eye view in a helicopter.

By night, some tours include dining under a canopy of stars accompanied by the ancient sounds of a lone didgeridoo at the award-winning Sounds of Silence dinner. Or indulge yourself in 'Tali Wiru', meaning beautiful dune in local Anangu language, encapsulates the magic of fine dining under the southern desert sky.

The resort also has a wide range of free activities, including guided or self-guided garden walks through local native flora, Indigenous art classes for kids, sit down for a bush yarn in the Circle of Sand with a local Anangu storyteller, learn how to throw a spear or boomerang with an Indigenous guide, listen to the enchanting sounds of the didgeridoo, support local artists and browse the many art pieces at the Indigenous art markets or marvel at the traditional Indigenous dance performance where audience participation is encouraged and rare photo opportunities with the performers will ensure you will never forget this unique experience.

Outback Cycling Uluru

The Uluru Bike Ride, explore the base of Uluru at your own pace and in your own time – with the whole family!


The 15 kilometre self-guided Uluru Bike Ride is easily achieved in under three hours with plenty of time to stop and explore the beauty of this spiritual and unique wonder of the world; Uluru. Experience a personal connection to the sacred Aboriginal land whilst stopping to observe historic rock art and wondrous waterholes.

Bicycle pick up is available from Outback Cycling's mobile bike shop at the Uluru Kata-Tjuta Cultural Centre. With options for everyone, the whole family can ride around the base of Uluru, getting you up close to the amazing sandstone monolith! If you don't have your own transport, you can book a return bus transfer with us as well.

Ensure you bring plenty of water, sunscreen and appropriate clothing for bicycle riding, and most importantly... your camera!

Uluru Bike Ride 2021 Terms and Conditions:

Please take a moment to view our full TERMS & CONDITIONS, and to sign the COMPULSORY waiver prior to arriving.

Ensure you wear appropriate clothing for bike riding in the outback, bring plenty of water and sunscreen.

If participant is between 140cm-145cm in height they may be suitable to ride a childs bike. Assessment will made on arrival along with additional payments if required.

Don’t have your own transportation? Book our Uluru Bike Ride package with transfers package for just $99 for adults and $50 for kids (11 years old and younger). Bike & Transfer package does NOT include entry into the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.
