Description

Camp out under the stars and experience the beauty of the outback. The best camping spots are towards the salt lakes in the central region where gidgee woodlands provide shade, shelter and soft ground for pitching a tent. You can camp within 50 metres of the public access tracks in the Simpson Desert, but there are no facilities.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF USE

1. Your pass is only valid for private vehicles.
2. Your pass is valid for the dates shown on the pass.
3. Your pass must be clearly displayed on the passenger side dashboard whilst in a listed park.
4. If asked by a ranger you must be able to produce identification to verify name of purchaser.
5. Bookings for campgrounds are required for many South Australian parks. Campsite reservations can be made through the National parks website www.parks.sa.gov.au.
6. A 12 month vehicle and camping for desert parks pass entitles vehicle entry into: Munga-Thirri - Simpson Desert Conservation Park and Regional Reserve Innamincka Regional Reserve Malkumba-Coongie Lakes National Park Witjira National Park Kati Thanda - Lake Eyre National Park and Tallaringa Conservation Park.
7. Munga-Thirri - Simpson Desert safety flags.
All vehicles excluding motorbikes must be fitted with a safety flag as detailed below when travelling into the Munga-Thirri - Simpson Desert Conservation park and Regional Reserve
Flag
Minimum of 300mm wide by 290mm height. Made of fluorescent materials-red orange or lime in colour.
Mounting requirements
With front bulbar - Flag pole attached to the bulbar. With top of the flag a minimum of 3.5m from the ground.
Without front bulbar - Flag pole attached via bracket at the front of the vehicle. With the top of the flag a minimum of 3.5m from the ground. Alternatively flag pole attached to the front of the roof rack. With the top of the flag a minimum of 2m from the roof of the vehicle.
8. All motorbikes must keep headlights on whilst travelling in the Munga-Thirri - Simpson Desert Conservation Park or Regional Reserve.
9. When visiting a listed desert park you are required to travel with the South Australian desert parks pass handbook that is provided to you at the time of pass purchase. Failure to produce your handbook on request may result in a fine.

CHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS

Should your expected travel plans change and you need to cancel your vehicle entry pass prior to your travel the following refund policy applies:

At least 5 days notice prior to the pass starting date - Full refund (less any administrative fee).
Less than 5 days notice prior to the pass starting date; or notice after the pass starting date - No refund (including for events such as unfavourable weather road closures due to rain and health related issues for self or others).

Depending on circumstances it may be possible to vary the commencement date of your pass.

We recommend that you also consider having travel insurance that may provide cover for cancelled or interrupted travel plans.
