Alice Springs Desert Park

871 Larapinta Drive, Alice Springs, Northern Territory 0870 Australia

Alice Springs Desert Park is an inspiring portrayal of Australia's desert environment that effortlessly blends the plants, animals and people of our arid regions. A 'must see' for every visitor to the Red Centre.

Walk through three re-created desert habitats and discover how deserts are full of life. Stories of the desert are shared through interpretative displays, cultural presentations and guide activities.

Do not miss Nature Theatre with free-flying birds of prey and other animals demonstrate their natural survival skills at the base of the MacDonnell Ranges.

Spend some time in the Nocturnal House where you can spot rare or endangered mammals of the desert. Let your eyes adjust to the evening light and enjoy animals in their natural environment including the bilby, mala and thorny devil.

At night, spotlight rare and endangered animals on the Nocturnal Tour. With an expert guide step into a predator proof enclosure in the foothills of the ranges and get up close with bilby, mala, echidna, brush tailed bettongs and other animals of the night.

Get in the moment and experience an authentic desert experience and explore how deserts are full of life!

With thousands of visible stars, Central Australia offers some of the best night skies in the world. Earth Sanctuary’s award winning astronomy tour offers a wonderful experience to anyone who is keen to know more about our home galaxy and beyond.
Established in 1999, Earth Sanctuary World Nature Centre (“Earth Sanctuary”) has become a Northern Territory leader in the field of eco-tourism by becoming one of Australia’s firs 100% carbon neutral venues. This milestone sets the benchmark for sustainability in the Australian outback with triple bottom line credentials, including Eco Tourism Australia’s Advanced Eco Certification and Eco Tourism Australia’s Highly Commended Award for 2014 and winner of the Northern Territory Brolga Award for Excellence in Sustainable Tourism in 2012 and 2014. Earth Sanctuary’s vision is to become a world leader in sustainable tourism and nature conservation to combat the greatest challenge facing humanity, climate change.

Situated 15 minutes south of Alice Springs, on 100 acres of desert wilderness overlooking the spectacular East MacDonnell Ranges, Earth Sanctuary is a proudly independent, family operated business offering award winning day and evening tours to visitors to the central Australian outback.
