Desert Song Festival

Friday 6th September - Sunday 15th September

The 7th Desert Song Festival comes roaring back in 2019-bigger, bolder and more exciting than ever!

Take “the essential Australian journey” this September to Alice Springs where the unique story of human occupation, resilience and culture will be celebrated in Central Australia’s most popular festival. Over 10 glorious days, the Desert Song Festival’s myriad of concerts, workshops and masterclasses will present choirs, musicians, small vocal ensembles and solo performers in a celebration of; the singer, the song, the instrument, the land and its people. Experience the magic of the three-time Grammy Award-winning Soweto Gospel Choir and rejoice with the Central Australian Aboriginal Women’s Choir as the 'UN International Year of Indigenous Language' is honoured by the festival.

With bold innovation singers, musicians and audiences will unite in this annual celebration of cultural diversity and artistic brilliance in Central Australia. Amid ancient desert landscapes and iconic heritage buildings, through music and song, audiences will connect deeply and authentically with the perpetual custodians of this land.

The DSF19 program provides a smorgasbord of free events and quality ticketed performances. Book early online or in person at the Alice Springs Visitor Information Centre.
