The Alice Prize A National Contemporary Art Award

View an inspiring mix of multicultural and diverse artforms, from artists working across Australia in the Northern Territory's largest contemporary art prize. An extraordinarily diverse collection of artists' are exhibiting works in a variety of mediums including printmaking, sculpture, video, ceramics, painting, drawing, photography and new media. The Alice Prize is a national contemporary Art Award of $25,000 to the winner, with artists represented from all states of Australia. It is a biennial event and is the Northern Territory's largest contemporary art prize. The Tammy Kingsley Peoples' Choice Award of $1000 is also offered. The Alice Prize was first awarded in 1970, after a group of volunteer administrators led by businessman and MLA Bernie Kilgariff, established a national art competition for the purpose of bring contemporary art to Central Australia. This year, the judge will be Mr. Chris Saines CNZM, Director of the Queensland Art Gallery & Gallery of Modern Art, who will announce the winner on Opening Night at the Araluen Arts Centre, Fri 15 April 2016.
